About Minneriya National Park

Minneriya National Park is located in the northern Central Plains of Sri Lanka. While, July to October is the best period to visit the park due to the renowned gathering of Wild Elephant herds; also during the dry season – from August to September -, herds up to 300 Elephants are seen within a few square kilometres of the vast Minneriya Reservoir amidst the national park.

Moreover, this elephant gathering is a thrilling spectacle that will be remembered for the rest of the life of all those who are fortunate enough to witness it. Furthermore, the park is also home to 24 species of mammals, over 160 species of Birds, and 25 species of Reptiles.
