Overview

This spectacular Sri Lanka Grand Tour of 20 days takes you deep back into history. You will gain a better understanding of the island’s remarkably rich cultural and religious history. Discover the wonders of this tropical island with a custom-designed 20 days itinerary highlighting the historic cities such as Sigiriya Rock Fortress that dates back to 477 CE the Dambulla Cave Temple and the ancient citadels of Anuradhapura & Kandy where a sacred tooth relic of the Lord Buddha is enshrined since 4th Century A.D., their ancient history and cultural aspects. Then head to the North East, is best for snorkeling, whale and dolphin spotting from March to October. With us, you will be able to explore 2000-year-old remains: a truly memorable experience.

In the evening go on a safari drive to Minneriya National Park and witness elephants roaming in the wild. Explore the small lakeside city of Kandy in the hill country and visit the Royal Botanical Gardens with an expert in botany, walk around the bustling street markets in Kandy and visit the Temple of the Tooth in Kandy where a sacred tooth relic of the Lord Buddha is enshrined since 4th Century A.D. What better way to get in the romantic mood than by watching a sunrise? This 2,243m high mountain is a sacred site for Buddhists, Christians, Muslims, and Hindus, and is a joint pilgrimage. Most begin the ascent in the night, as watching the sun come up from the summit is one of the most spectacular sunrises in Asia. It is a tiring experience, but well worth the effort: the beauty of the dawn and the awe-inspiring views across the island are unmissable. Finally, you will head to the tranquil, golden sandy beaches of the South Coast, just relax and enjoy the real paradise.

With LankaTourExperience you have the freedom of following the pre-planned tour program or else, skip the listed activities and take it easy, just kick back and relax

WEATHER & WHEN TO VISIT

Sri Lanka is a year-round destination with two monsoon seasons so there is a lot of confusion around when is the best time to visit. The weather doesn’t run like clockwork here, and we can always be surprised by the weather in Sri Lanka! However, there will rarely be weather so dramatic that it will stand in the way of a brilliant holiday with plenty of warm weather and sunshine.

Moneychanger
Money changers are present in Colombo and in the main tourist locations. They offer competitive rates, but choose them carefully because it’s easy to be scammed. Our advice is to exchange currency only in banks or at the most reliable money changers, such as those at the airport. ATMs are still the safest and most reliable solution.
